Needle vs No Needle Dermal Fillers
To inject or not to inject?
Needle and no needle treatments are both effective ways for administering Dermal Fillers. They both sit in the dermis of the skin when administered, but sit in the skin in different ways (please see picture below). To help you make you’re decision on what would suit you’re needs here are the pros and cons for both treatments
The No Needle treatment causes little to no pain, most people experience a pressure sensation rather than discomfort. All treatments are non invasive without the use of needles, so they do not require any numbing or any dermal filler containing lidocaine. making the treatment suitable for any one who has an allergy to lidocaine or phobias to needles. Without the use of needles and numbing it makes the treatment much quicker, at around 30 minutes. The treatment creates a natural appearance so you can go on as normal without much downtime. Swelling can be expected, but infection rates are drastically reduced as no injections are being used so you can go on with daily tasks as normal.
The downside to the no needle filler is you cannot treat all areas. You can only treat Lips, Marrionette lines, Nasolabial folds and Chin dimples. Making this treatment most suitable for fine lines and wrinkles around mouth area, and lip volume or any imbalance of shape. This Treatment is most suitable for people wanting to enhance what they already have to create a natural look.
Injectable Dermal filler on the other hand can be injected onto all aspects of the face, for shape and contour. Firmer fillers can be used to construct shape for example on the cheeks, jaw, nose and vermillion border. Injectable fillers are most suited for more intricate work to create more structure if you want to change your natural features shape this is a better option for you. Longer lasting fillers can also be used which last up to 18 months, so you don’t have to inject as often.
Although injectables do create more risk with infection so you have to follow post care to avoid any issues. Injectables do require numbing to create a more relaxed treatment and less discomfort so Lidocaine is used alongside not suitable for sensitivities to this. Working with needles means more precision and a longer treatment time of around 1 hour depending on areas this may go up if you would like more than one area treating.
For both treatments free consultations are always recommended so we can customise the best treatment plan for you. Pricing for injectables starts from £180 – £300 per ampoule in comparison to no needle starting from £140 – £180 per ampoule . Always seek medical advise from our in house surgeon if you have any worries. If you have an allergic reaction to any dermal filler, we do offer Hyaluronise to dissolve the dermal filler, this can be used on both treatments.
